2015 Calendar

I’m so stoked to finally be able to show you my 2015 Calendar!!!
I’ve been wanting to make my own printed Mocho Loco calendar for about 3 years now but for one reason or another, never got around to finish the design and actually getting them printed…. But at the beginning of this year, I made a commitment that I wouldn’t let another one go by without making my own calendar. So yeah, here is my limited edition 2015 Calendar!

I tried different mediums, layouts and colours (there are endless possibilities with calendars) but finally decided on doing this hanging banner calendar hand-screenprinted on 100% cotton fabric and packed in a craft paper tube.
I have mine already up on my studio and some wrapped for Christmas presents. If you would like to have your own or give as a gift to a friend, please, please contact me or head to Fabricate or KinShop in Cape Town.

Recent Work: The Ice Cream Guys

Those that know me well, will know that in my world: design + ice cream equals paradise.
Yes, I’m not only a big chocolate fun but also loooove ice cream. So when I was approached to design the branding and packaging for a local ice cream brand…. well, you can imagine my happiness!

In between many tastings, I designed the logo, communication material and packaging for The Ice Cream Guys.
The Ice Cream Guys is all about about real Italian gelato, promoting a total natural lifestyle and supporting the practices of locally produced and sustainable farming. All their ice cream is homemade with organic milk, it doesn’t contain hydrigenated vegetable fats, genetically modified organisms (GMO) or sythetic colourings. Basically it’s yummy and super healthy!
For their brand they envisioned a fresh, clean and contemporary look with some playful details. When I received the feedback from the presentation with my first proposed view for the brand,  I knew I was on the right track! So here are the final design elements. I’m currently working on their website (here’s a little preview) but will show you the completed site very soon.
Oh, and of course… Here are some pics of one of their stalls at the Earthfair market in Tokai. This market is open on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm and Wednesdays from 3pm to 8h30pm. So if you have some ice cream cravings, you know where to head!

Brittany and David's Wedding invitations

I'm so excited to share with you these beautiful invitations I designed for Brittany and David.

When Brittany contacted me a few months ago to design her and David's wedding invitations, I couldn't hide the excitement. Her sister Bianca got married a few years ago and that was one of the first invitations I ever designed (click here to view their invites) and still to date, one of my all time favourites.

Brittany and David are a young and vibrant couple that got married this past weekend. I went to the venue in the morning to set up all the special stationery details and must say that everything looked stunning. Thank you to my patient husband for all the help setting up menus and macaroons boxes for each guest and applying the vinyl details to the floors - you really are the bestest.

Today I'm sharing some photographs of Brit and David's wedding invites, which I totally love. The colour scheme for their wedding was gold (my fav), blush pink and white. The wedding invitation suite included a main card that unfold to give a 3D look with a photo taken by the talented Sophie Smith, a details card and a sleeve with gold foil details (gold foil = happiness).

I hope that as soon as the photos from the wedding are edited and developed, I can share them with you as well which I have no doubt will be just stunning.

Happy Monday everyone; hope you all have a great and productive week ahead!

Recent work: Philomena

Today I would love to share a very special project I worked on! Hanna (Slezackova) contacted me a few months ago and asked me to work on the identity of her new business venture.

She realised a gap in the market when trying to shop for her pregnant best friend who always looked fabulous and always with her own unique style. She felt the maternity wear on the market was not up to scratch so turned in desperation to clothes that were not necessarily made for pregnant women but could work. That's when she decided to create Philomena, a designer clothing brand that carefully crafts garments to be worn before, during and after pregnancy for women who do not wish to compromise on style.

In Hanna's own words: "My inspiration came from my best friend Amira Quinlan, as well as people like Victoria Beckham, both of whom always looked fabulous during pregnancy with draping fabrics or short tunic dresses.  I spent a lot of time looking for the right fabrics to compliment the designs. Maternity wear tends to use alot of lycra which gives it a very one dimensional casual look. I wanted to design a range that was still comfortable but also equally as stylish. I realised that meant I must do all the work for my client, she doesn't have to think about it, she knows when she puts on a Philomena piece she can go to a wedding, a cocktail party, a lunch or a walk on the promenade!"

Some of the branding elements I created for Philomena include logo design, business cards, garments tags and social media elements.

Please contact Hannah for more information or to have a look at everything she has in stock as well as the new summer season collection. hannah@philomena.co.za | Twitter @Phil_Clothing | https://www.facebook.com/philomenaclothing

Lookbook: Bikers Style

It’s Monday and I couldn’t be happier after a fabulous weekend away!
My husband just bought a long desired on-road/off-road bike and on account of the good weather, we decided to take it for a nice long ride to the winelands. We left Cape Town on Friday afternoon and rode 72km to the picturesque town of Franschhoek.
Franschhoek it is said to be the gourmet capital of Western Cape and with good reason. Every meal we had in the trip was just decadent and not to forget the delicious wines we got to taste. We stayed in a very quaint little cottage close to the main road and from where we rode to the different wine estates and restaurants.
I’m so thankful for such magical weekend; I hope there are a lot more to come!

Want to know what I'm wearing? Leather jacket by Calvin Klein; Leather sneakers by Converse Argentina; Sunglasses by Gucci; Black tassels top by Hurley; Dark grey jeans by Zara; Beads bracelet by Spririt; Necklace with thread-wrapped small triangle by The story of a bird named Frank; Druzy pendant by Matter of fakt.

Gillian and Paul's Wedding Invitations

Happy Friday everyone! It's a beautiful sunny day in Cape Town; I hope everyone is getting ready to enjoy a beautiful weekend ahead! But before that, I would like to share with you the wedding invitations I designed for Gillian and Paul.
These two are not only one of our closest friends but the most wonderful couple I've ever met. Both of them are relax, gentle and truly sincere real people! And let's not forget how stylish this couple is... I guess that from the moment they started dating we all knew they were perfect for each other.

The theme for their wedding was "Botanical love". So for the invitations we combined soft illustrated floral elements with rustic craft paper and twine.
If you like the invites, wait until you see some images from their magical winter wedding...

Featured Event: It's a Gold Party

-->
Gold is not only one of the most trendy colours at the moment but also one of my all time favourites.
So when the girls from 24.com contacted me to do the décor for their “Shining in gold” party, I couldn’t hide my excitement.
Here are some images of the event for which I designed invitations, stationery and prepared all the décor and styling.
If you like, wait until you see this year’s one – coming soon.

Recent Work: Gibraltar Music Festival 2014

We are getting closer and closer to the end of the year and together with that another month has gone by!

September: the month that for some is synonymous of the beginning of spring, for others the start of autumn and for all Gibraltarians, time for the yearly expected Gibraltar Music Festival. 4 stages, over 30 local and international acts and thousands of people flying in from Spain, UK and Russia make of this music festival, the biggest event in Gibraltar. And for me one of my biggest jobs...

For the second consecutive year, the organizers of this event contacted me to assist them with all the graphic artwork for the festival. Months of work prior to the event included designs such as layouts for dozens of magazines and newspaper adverts, posters and billboards, website design, facebook images updates, brochures and programmes. And that's not all; event maps and plans, timetables and even all the signage for the festival itself and artwork for all stages and screens was part of the work I did for the event.

It was hard-work which included some late nights setting artwork for print deadlines but I must say that I enjoyed every step of it; specially as it was a pleasure working with organizers and visionaries, Jonathan and Owen.

Below are some of the elements I designed for the Gibraltar Music Festival 2014.
Don't forget to click on the video at the bottom of the page to see the highlights of the event and the magnitude of this festival.
