Recent Work: The Ice Cream Guys

Those that know me well, will know that in my world: design + ice cream equals paradise.
Yes, I’m not only a big chocolate fun but also loooove ice cream. So when I was approached to design the branding and packaging for a local ice cream brand…. well, you can imagine my happiness!

In between many tastings, I designed the logo, communication material and packaging for The Ice Cream Guys.
The Ice Cream Guys is all about about real Italian gelato, promoting a total natural lifestyle and supporting the practices of locally produced and sustainable farming. All their ice cream is homemade with organic milk, it doesn’t contain hydrigenated vegetable fats, genetically modified organisms (GMO) or sythetic colourings. Basically it’s yummy and super healthy!
For their brand they envisioned a fresh, clean and contemporary look with some playful details. When I received the feedback from the presentation with my first proposed view for the brand,  I knew I was on the right track! So here are the final design elements. I’m currently working on their website (here’s a little preview) but will show you the completed site very soon.
Oh, and of course… Here are some pics of one of their stalls at the Earthfair market in Tokai. This market is open on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm and Wednesdays from 3pm to 8h30pm. So if you have some ice cream cravings, you know where to head!

Lookbook: Bikers Style

It’s Monday and I couldn’t be happier after a fabulous weekend away!
My husband just bought a long desired on-road/off-road bike and on account of the good weather, we decided to take it for a nice long ride to the winelands. We left Cape Town on Friday afternoon and rode 72km to the picturesque town of Franschhoek.
Franschhoek it is said to be the gourmet capital of Western Cape and with good reason. Every meal we had in the trip was just decadent and not to forget the delicious wines we got to taste. We stayed in a very quaint little cottage close to the main road and from where we rode to the different wine estates and restaurants.
I’m so thankful for such magical weekend; I hope there are a lot more to come!

My photography Project | Glen Beach House

A week ago we stayed in Glen Beach house-sitting our friend's cottage on the beach.  If you haven't been to Cape Town,  Glen Beach is the prettiest beach with amazing views of the mountains: it's literally paradise. So for us to be able to stay there for a whole week was a perfect holiday. Yes; I've found my dream house, wooden floors, beautiful green loan, fireplace and the most spectacular set up.
I really felt very inspired here and couldn't not take some photographs. Here I'll share a few with you (there are some of Arri, my husband and the rasta-cat Napoleon - already missing him).

Week #16: MPP - Wine tasting and friends

It's been a while since I last posted images from My Photography Project. This doesn't mean that I haven't been taking new shots and practicing every week though...

Today I want to share with you some pictures I took last weekend in Franschhoek where we went wine tasting with my husband and friends that visited us from New Zealand. Even though we are in the middle of winter, the weather was just amazing and we had a great time. We all drove to Franschhoek and there jumped on the local bus/tram and visited 5 different wine farms. Here are some picture I took on the day. Not my greatest collection, but everything was shot in manual mode after lots of wine tasting ;)

Happy weekend everyone!

Week#8: My Photography Project - Offices and Spaces

For the last few weeks I've been freelancing for 24.com, one of the biggest digital media companies in South Africa.
It's been a while since I last worked in a proper corporate environment but I must say, I really enjoyed it! Perhaps because I knew I was going to be there only for a few weeks or because the work itself was pretty cool together with a super fun team of great people...

I got to work on some of their bigger brands such as Careers24 and Fin24 but what I enjoyed the most, was working on some side projects they assigned me... I'm not really allow to say much more than that, as they haven't gone live yet, but as soon as they do, I will share with you.

They were pretty cool in letting me take pics of the offices for my weekly Photography Project entry. As you can see the offices are pretty modern and spacious.... And as many media companies, they have awesome kitchens and recreational areas- which I love... plus a CEO that brings fresh cupcakes for their staff every Friday- pretty rad, don't you think?

Thanks Nadia, Marc, Geoff, Deirdre, Catherine, Ricardo, Hanna, Terina and the rest of the team for making me feel so welcomed and at home! Looking forward to working with you again in the near future...
