Little Pink Book Workshop

I know it's been a while since I last wrote so here I am trying to catch up...  the bridal expo was a success... it was 4 long hard-working days but it was great to meet many beautiful brides to be and some new friends!  I'll put some pictures ip and a little video of the event very soon.

But today I want to share with you some images of the Little Pink Book Workshop where I participated as one of the wedding suppliers last Friday. The time was really tight as we only had 2 weeks to prepare. But with Jade (JC events) and Tanya (Studio Bloem) we were able to make it happen!

I designed all the stationery for the day: from the e-vite, that was sent out to all the guests, to the boutonnieres with everyone's names, and signs for the yummy dessert table that the guys from Cakes by Wade prepared. By the way, it was such a pleasure meeting Wade. I've been seeing his stunning work in so many wedding blogs, so I was expecting to meet this super-ego chef-de-patisserie, but to my surprise he is such a nice down to earth and friendly man that puts a lot of love into each of his masterpieces even though he has lots of weddings (If I'm not wrong, he has to deliver 9 cakes for next weekend... wow)...

Here are some pictures showcasing mainly my work of the stationery on the tables and my little stand display. The theme for the evening was french inspired so basically I had to design menus and cards for 6 different styled tables all with the french flair. I'm sure the pictures that Natelee (Glee) and Stefan (ZaraZoo) took are going to be much better but this is just a little preview from my side.

I think the event was great fun.... not only for the brides but for all the people that worked on it as well. I got to meet so many nice people, especially the girls from Bella Chiara. If you haven't seen Claire's work, you must visit her site; she does the most amazing handmade head pieces, veils and garters. She only started her business 6 months ago and I'm sure she'll do amazingly well. I wish she was around when I needed the garters for my friends weddings. I had to make them myself and at the time was very proud of them, but now that I've seen Bella Chiara's designs, I'm not too sure about them, hehe.

Uhh, the worst part of the night was when I had to talk. I'm really, really bad at public speaking, especially in English and with a microphone... so yes, I hope everyone erases that part of the night from their memory...hehe...

As suppliers we were allowed to invite one guest or bride to be.  I invited Celeste, another Argentinean girl living in Cape Town, that just got engaged to a South African... I'm sure the LPB Workshop was of great help to her... she asked many questions and at one stage I was almost hiding under the table with embarrassment when she asked if it was normal to have cash bar in weddings and all the rest of the brides look at her saying "eehhh?". I know in South Africa it's a really common thing to have cash bars. If the bride and groom had to pay for all the alcohol, by the end of the party, they would be totally bankrupt (even more than usual). In Argentina, on the other hand, maybe because we don't drink as much, the bar tab is always covered by the bridal couple.

We finished the event only at 11pm but that wasn't the end of the night... Cele was really nice in staying and helping me packing all my stuff. We drove back in convoy, thankfully, because her phone was out of airtime, so when she got a puncture in the middle of the dark, dirt road, I'm not sure what she would have done... We were literally in the middle of nowhere in skirts and high heels trying to change the tire: I couldn't stop laughing... Then, as if they were angels sent from heaven, this 4x4 with bright headlights and 4 guys willing to help and get down to work, appeared from nowhere and changed the tire... As the girls from the Little Pink Book would say : "Only to argentineans"...

Here is a picture of Cele with her saviors... big smiles...
Happy day everyone!

Mocho Loco getting ready for the Bridal Fair

It's been a bit more than a year since I started designing wedding stationery (one of my favorite things to do). It all happened without really planning it, when my good friends Amanda and Darren asked me to make an illustration of them for their wedding invititation. Once I finished the illustration I asked them who was designing the invitations but they haven't thought so far. So I designed my first wedding invite for my friends as a wedding gift.

After that, because of the power of word of mouth I continued designing and hand-crafting beautiful invitations for lovely couples, each of them unique and special.

But in the last few months I decided to take the next step and start doing some marketing initiatives. The first one is participating at one of the most important Bridal Shows in Cape Town: Tygervalley Bridal Expo which is starting tomorrow! Yes: I'm super excited and nervous. It's the very first time I'll have a stand, well, actually the first time I'll have designed a stand too. So really looking forward to it. I've been working long hours getting ready to showcase my work. Thank you to my patient fiance that has helped with the sanding, cutting, drilling, etc, etc... couldn't have made it without him.

Here are some sneak peak pictures of the process-making of Mocho Loco's stand... Really looking forward to meeting many brides that are dreaming on their perfect wedding day same as me...

If you are getting married soon and want to check out the expo or just stop by to say "hi", the Expo is taking place from Thursday 30 August to Sunday 2 September from 9am to 7pm at Tygervalley shopping centre (free entrance).
See you there!!!

Isabella's Save the Dates

Isabella is having her long-time-waited Batmitzvah at the end of the year so she asked me to design the save the dates for her...

I've know Isabella since she was a little girl as I used to worked with her mom. She would always come to visit at the office and with her younger sister Milla, would hang out around my desk.. as they called it: "the cool desk"... where toys were aloud and of course a drawer full of colorful markets and clay was always available for them :)

I remember when about 3 or 4 year ago the parcel with the poster ordered from UK arrived for Isabella's mom with what would become one of our favorite phrases: " keep calm and carry on". I think that must have made a big impact in Isabella because she learnt the importance of it... and as young as she might seem, she always know when to remind us to "keep calm and carry on"...

So I wasn't surprise when she told me she wanted for her save the dates "keep calm and save the date"... and the color? I didn't need to ask as we both share our love for purple!

I made a digital version to send to her family overseas and a printed one for her school friends and family in Cape Town. A double sided printed card on curious metal paper packed in a hand-made envelope and label with the guests details. I hope you like them

Paper Garlands yeayyy...

You should see the amounts of paper I've been collecting from all the offcuts of all the invites I've been making for all the beautiful couples over the last year....

I'm quite precious about paper and recycling... so every little piece, no matter how tiny it is, I keep... .. I've been using it to make notes, cards, sketches, you name it... but there's still sooo much paper... It has now become boxes and boxes, hehe... So, being looking for ideas on how to reuse this not so-scrap-looking-paper, and this is one of the first things I made: Paper Garlands!!!!

Handmade with love and offcuts of beautiful wedding invitations, they are great to decorate your studio or home... If you like them as much as I do (my house is full of paper garlands now), you can buy them online on Hello Pretty.

Happy Wednesday for everyone... I hope those that are in South Africa enjoy the public holiday/long weekend coming...

Suede and Rose Gold Bracelets

How many people wore jewellery in gold 2 year ago? For some reason we were all into silver and gold seemed to have taken a step back (maybe because of price) but thanksfully gold is back into fashion! I love gold, specially rose gold (like the beautiful engagement ring my fiance got for me a few months ago) and I'm glad people are now starting to appreciate this color a lot more...

So now that I'm all about gold colors, I wanted to work on some jewellery pieces... these bracelets are the first collection I've specially made for this coming colorful summer.... I hope you like them!

The suede and plated rose gold details bracelets have been lovingly handmade by Mocho Loco and they come in many colors. I'm selling them in packs of 3 at R120. So if you like them and would like to order some or inquire more, you can email me to info@mocholoco.co.za.

Wishing you a happy and colorful day!!!!

Mocho Loco's New CI

Mocho Loco has new Corporate Identity: yeayyy!!!
So it's been about 2 years since Mocho Loco started and my passion for creating changed from just  being a hobby to become a reality. I printed business cards and started my little blog which I enjoy writing so much. But I think that now it was a good time to take it to the next level...
So I designed a new logo (it really was very difficult designing a logo for me as I like so many things and so many styles). So after many tries decided to just keep it simple and fresh and of course play with colors which I'm passionate about. I hope you like it and stay tuned as my new website is coming live really soon!
Happy Friday everyone! Wishing you a warm, relaxing and fun weekend.

Winter Time!

It's official: winter has arrived!!! Warm and beach days are a thing from the past... but wasn't just a few days ago that we were still walking in bikini tops and hawaiianas to get some Kawaii smoothies?!!! Not anymore..

So, how can a girl have some fun without stepping out into the cold streets? Well, looks like there are quite a few options! So, if you don’t feel like running in your lace tights in the rain you can still have a lot of fun in the comfort of your own home in winter!

Here are our top 10 things to do in these winter days:

1. Watch chick-flick movies
2. Do lots of handcrafts
3. Day spa with friends
4. Make a yummy chocolate dessert (cupcakes, brownies, muffins, etc... )
5. Host tea parties for your friends
6. Look through your old pictures and do some scrap-booking
7. Make a romantic dinner for your boyfriend or husband
8. Read a nice book

9. Make a perfect holiday gift list for… yourself... and go shopping

10. Sleeep!!! :)

Happy weekend and winter time!

Father's Day Free Printable Card

This Sunday is Father’s day!
I woke up this morning to realized that I haven’t done anything yet for the best dad in the world. Have you?
Here is a card I designed for him.... But sharing it with you so you can also print it at home and give as a gift to your dad or hubby.
It’s very simple: just print, cut and fold. If you want to add it a little bit extra, you can make a lining in a different color paper and tie it with bakers twain or a thin ribbon. Easy-piecey! Hope you give it a try and celebrate a great Father’s Day!
